What is a M3U file?
M3U (MP3 URL) is an audio playlist file stored with the .m3u extension. M3U is not an actual audio file, it just points to audio and sometimes video files. M3U was developed to be used with Winplay3 software by Fraunhofer. It is also supported by various media players and software. (https://docs.fileformat.com/audio/m3u/)
Of course, you can have DirectVideo sources, too.
Update:
The picture shows 4x DirectVideo sources and 8x M3U video sources, delivered from two Linux (E2) satellite receivers.
The window can be dynamically resized or maximized – works fine even with a 4K screen.
By clicking on any of the yellow labels, the respective panel is maximized to full screen mode and the audio is activated.
The maximized screen can then be grabbed by the VMA Video Analyser:
This gives great flexibility for monitoring downstream transmissions, since virtually any signal can be analyzed.
