The Browser-based Audio Test Tone Generator is a versatile audio signal generator that runs entirely in a standard web browser using the Web Audio API, without requiring any software installation or external hardware. It is designed to generate continuous and swept test tones for basic audio verification, testing, and demonstration purposes.
The tool supports multiple waveform types, including sine, square, sawtooth, triangle, and white noise, and allows precise control of frequency and level. A dual-tone mode is provided, enabling independent frequencies on the left and right channels, which is useful for stereo routing checks, channel identification, and basic alignment tests. Independent left and right channel level controls allow fine adjustment of balance and level relationships.

Stereo routing modes include mono, left-only, right-only, and out-of-phase (L/R inverted) operation, supporting phase checks and stereo integrity verification. A built-in frequency sweep generator allows one-shot sweeps between user-defined start and end frequencies over a configurable duration, making it possible to audibly assess frequency response and system behaviour.
In addition to signal generation, the tool includes a real-time audio vectorscope, displaying left versus right channel phase and stereo image information. This visualisation helps identify mono compatibility, phase inversion, and stereo width, complementing the audible test signals.
All audio processing is performed locally in the browser; no audio data is uploaded, stored, or transmitted. This makes the tool suitable for use in studios, classrooms, laboratories, and field environments where quick access to test tones is required without installing dedicated software.
The Browser-based Audio Test Tone Generator is intended for basic audio checks, routing verification, education, and exploratory testing, complementing professional audio analysers and hardware signal generators rather than replacing them.
